This mumei katana, measuring 72.2 cm, is perfect for martial arts. The sword features a wavy gunome-midare hamon and a well-defined edge that makes it both visually striking and highly functional. The blade's lightweight design (740g) ensures smooth handling during practice, while the fully adorned koshirae (mountings) boasts intricate family crest inlays, adding a touch of luxury and elegance.

Blade Features:

The blade is crafted in the shinogi-zukuri style, with a mild curvature (chu-sori), which is well-suited for iai practice. The blade features a bo-hi (groove) on both sides, enhancing its agility and producing a characteristic sound when swung, known as hi-nari. The chu-kissaki (medium-sized tip) adds to the precision and balance of the sword, making it perfect for drawing and cutting techniques.

The gunome-midare hamon is well-defined, with a bright and clear nioiguchi (temper line). The hamon is adorned with small nie (crystals), showcasing the craftsmanship behind the blade. The steel surface features a tightly forged ko-itame hada (small wood grain pattern), further adding to the sword's refined appearance and durability.

Mountings (Koshirae):

  • Fuchi, Kashira, Kojiri: The fittings are made of iron and adorned with gold inlaysndepicting family crests, lending an elegant and personalized touch to the sword.
  • Menuki: Floral-themed inlays on the handle enhance the aesthetics and grip of the tsuka (handle).
  • Tsuba (Handguard): The tsuba is an iron mokko-gata (quatrefoil shape) with namako-sukashi (sea cucumber-shaped openwork), intricately designed and decorated with gold inlays of family crests.
  • Saya (Scabbard): The scabbard is lacquered in black urushi, with luxurious makie inlays of family crests, adding a sophisticated and traditional look.
